These fancy machines are extremely rare. Only 121 samples have been produced between 1969 and 1974. This racing car is based on the underbody of the NSU 1200 car. It features a carbody made from glass fiber reinforced plastics, a windshield which was taken from the Porsche 904 (aka Porsche Carrera GTS), and gullwings. The Thurner RS was made by Rudolf Thurner, a sports car buff who earned his money in the insurance business. He designed this comparatively affordable car and produced it in an old spinning mill in Bavaria . I photographed these stylish cars during a meeting of NSU enthusiasts.
